Make a Friend, Be a Friend,
Bring Your Friend to Christ!
Post-Cursillo
The purpose of the Cursillo weekend is to bring people from the Pre-Cursillo to the Post-Cursillo stage. It is meant to continue the process begun during the Cursillo weekend. With the framework of the Post-Cursillo, the individual and group restlessness brought by the experience of the Cursillo weekend is kept alive, so that the Church and all the communities within which these individuals and groups are immersed are constantly being leavened with the spirit and the Gospel.
Post-Cursillo offers an opportunity to pursue in greater depth the relationship discovered, initiated or deepened during the Cursillo weekend. In the name of the Lord, the Church calls each and every one of her members to holiness and to her mission of evangelizing the world. All Christians in any state or walk of life are called to the fullness of Christian life and to the perfection of love.
The Post-Cursillo is based on the fact that conversion is an ongoing process that never ends, and that environments can be transformed to whatever extent the people who make up those environments are transformed. A good Post-Cursillo program helps Cursillistas to discover, to accept, and responsibly take their place in the Church (the ecclesial community) and in the world (their environments).
The objective of the Post-Cursillo is to provide the means of support for Cursillistas to live their fourth day within their own unique place where God has planted them. It seeks to have sponsors, team members, and Post-Cursillo work together in assisting new Cursillistas to integrate the Cursillo method into a way of life.
What Is the Fourth Day?
The Fourth Day is the rest of a Cursillistas life following a 3-day Cursillo weekend. The Cursillo Movement realizes that the essential mission of the Church is to evangelize, and that each baptized person has a mission to fulfill. Because of his or her place in the world as a layperson, he/she is called to personify Christ in all the environments where his or her daily life takes place. Therefore, the Allentown Cursillo Movement has three very important tools to assist each person. These tools are the Group Reunion, Ultreyas, and School of Leaders.
Group Reunion
The "Group Reunion" is a small group of Cursillo friends that meet on a regular basis. The purpose of this meeting is to share with one another the growth that has taken place within each of us. We share our spiritual growth as well as our growth in becoming a person who strives to bring a Christ-like attitude to our environments. This meeting is also referred to as a "Friendship Group Reunion."
As we attempt to bring Christ into our various environments, we will sometimes become frustrated. The Group Reunion provides the continual support needed in order to persevere in doing God's will.
Ultreya
The "Ultreya," Spanish word meaning "onward", is the meeting of the larger Cursillo community. It is the time for the members of all the respective small group reunions to meet and share their respective fourth days. The Ultreya is beneficial in providing the support and encouragement that each person needs.
Our Secretariat team developed these guidelines to help you be more familiar with what a witness talk is and isn't and try to help you feel comfortable in giving a witness talk at Ultreya. Guidelines for a Witness Speaker
School of Leaders
The "School of Leaders" is quarterly reunions of all Cursillistas that begins with celebration of the Mass. It is an important part of our spiritual growth and education as a Community. The "School of Leaders" encourages, empowers and trains leaders in the Movement. It is a time for renewal, a time to reminisce, a time for music and food, a time for sharing, and a time to share the Holy Spirit's love for us with one another.
